Hello Everyone!

Last year I went to Target (a store ) and brought these Rose bushes for $0.79 they looked more like rose stumps with three or four leaves.

I bought 6 of them, actually.
My Hubby was wondering what the heck was wrong with me to buy such ugly plants and I told him that they were Roses! To this he said..well or at least they *dream to be* and started laughing. Ha ha ha. (sarcastic laugh there...)

So anyway...me being the stubburn one that I am, I planted my rose *stumps* and began watering them and feeding them,....not knowing anything about roses except that I liked them (err...that's why I bought those..they were almost dead anyway...LOL)

And when we went on vacation in February, to Panama, (after almost a year and three wimpy roses later) my poor rose bushes looked worse than when I first got them. So...I began my watering and feeding again....sighing at the thought of having to wait another year to see a REAL rose I could be proud to say it came from MY GARDEN.

Well....funny things happen sometimes and this is to let everyone know that when someone you LOVE dies ..they do nice little things for you. Would you believe that in about 3 weeks time my rose bushes exploded with leaves?

They got so big and beautiful my neighbors thought I was using some kind of new steroids....*BUT* that's not all. I told Hubby that is was someone in Heaven who had sent me a little help...and about two days after I said that I began to notice rose buds on my white rose bush (well the one the sticker said was supposed to be white anyway..) and I was soooooooooo happy :)

This was April 1st.

Then like 3 or 4 days later I started to count them and noticed that there were 9! You know...I instantly KNEW it was my grandfather because he had 9 grandchildren and when I put flowers for him next to his picture I always buy white. :) Well...ok so maybe it's just the weather.

But someone at home depot had told me that it takes about 3 weeks for the buds to fully grow and open..so I was soooooooo happy to know that I would have roses for my grandfather's bday (April 21st) (still think it's just the weather??) and this just made it clearer....

Well (almost done now!)......This Wednesday Hubby had to go on a business trip and I was sad to be so lonely again. :( I was watering my plants and thinking *I wish my roses would open up already* and Yep.....you guessed it! The next day (which was this past Thursday (April 12) ONE opened up!

I was so happy to wake up and see that! *Although* it wasn't as pretty and BIG as I expected (Yelp....I thought I could grow long stem roses...DUH) So I just told myself *Hey at least I didn't kill them!*

And you will NOT believe what I found this morning!

So I will show you!!!

GORGEOUS ROSES AND LONG STEM!!!!

(He he he...well I knew they would be long stem...since I saw the small buds.... but I just didn't know they would be this gorgeous!

So I cut them, and took many pictures, like the big green thumb nerd that I am....as PROOF that I did grow roses!

And if that wasn't enough, I emailed everyone..which only proves I am a bigger NERD, and then I put them on this site! (<~~~~~Major Nerdiness!!!)

I don't know if anyone cares to read about this but I was just so proud and happy I had to do this!

And yes this is a true story! LOL
And yes this is MY story...no one forwarded this to me..I just thought I would share it with everyone...specially those of you know me know of my obsession with flowers :)
